DIADvisor Map FAQs
Why does the map appear as a tiny square in the corner of the screen and can't be resized?
The MapHeight and MapWidth values stored in the database may be corrupt. Open the "swatch2.mdb" file with Microsoft Access and manually set these values in the MapsDef table for the map in question to about 6000 each. Then re-display the map. You should now be able to grab the lower right corner and resize it correctly with the mouse.
What is the reference latitude?
A latitude roughly in the center of the system (North to South). This is where there is zero distortion in the system maps. To the North, the maps are slightly stretched, and to the South slightly compressed in order for their features to be congruent with the flat grid structure used in DIADvisor to plot site locations.
What are the origin latitude and longitude?
The origin is a point that must be East and South of the system's boundary (outside of all maps). This point must be defined in order for DIADvisor to calculate relative positions on the screen.
Why can't I see the whole map?
Most maps are created at 1024 x 768 resolution. If your display is set for a lower resolution the map gets cut off. Either set your display resolution to 1024 x 768; or if your system will not support this call us and we can recreate your maps at a lower resolution.
Can I use ArcView to create maps for DIADvisor?
Yes, although there are a few special steps you need to take. Please read Making Maps With ArcView.
Even though there are maps available on the FTP server, a new FTP Client doesn't display a map initially... Why?
There needs to be a self-extracting map archive in the ../maps subdirectory on your FTP site named "map1.exe" containing a bitmap file named "map1.bmp." This is the default map for your system which an FTP Client will always attempt to download if it does not have a local map to use.
How do I prepare self-extracting maps for an FTP site?
You need to use a file compression utility like WinZip. To enable files to be automatically unpacked without user intervention an inexpensive license is required. For more step-by-step instructions please read Preparing FTP Maps With WinZip.
Can I print the map and rain overlay directly from DIADvisor?
No, but you can capture the screen image and print it with another application. The easiest way to do this is to press the F10 key which will open the "Save File As" dialog. This will create a bitmap file (.bmp) which can then be opened with almost any graphics program.
